NEVERLAND

a multimedia shadow puppet theater performance

This is a multimedia shadow puppet theater performance project with a central theme of marine wildlife conservation. We will use paper puppets, objects, lighting, masks, multimedia, and interactive design to create a fantasy ocean world that is both watchable and interactive. The story follows a young muteboy who accidentally falls off his father’s ship and discovers he has the ability to communicate with marine animals. With their help, he embarks on an adventure to find his father. The audience will follow the protagonist through moments of wonder and regret, gradually unraveling the mystery of the boy’s identity, leading to a final encounter with a mysterious whale. Through puppetry, shadow play, installations, interactive programs, text, and light and sound performances, we aim to evoke the audience’s imagination and perception, addressing significant environmental issues like the relationship between humans and marine life, plastic pollution, coral bleaching, and overfishing in the context of the ocean ecological crisis.
